After more than 40 years at Thrupe Farm,  Nelson and Gilda Butt have retired from farming and they have moved to a bungalow in Shepton Mallet.   Nelson and Gilda have been an essential part of the digging at Thrupe Lane over the last 35 years and to celebrate this, the diggers enjoyed a meal with them together with an exchange of reminiscences and much hilarity at the Mendip Inn on Saturday 29 April.

Dave Tuffery (MNRC) emerging from a mineshaft on the Yoxter ranges.   The shaft has NGR of 53144 52992 and was found to be just over 7 metres deep,  with a short, choked passage leading off at the bottom.
